News for 2005
Thanks to all the fans, family, and pit crew for making this an outstanding year for Kromac Racing. Chris finished the year as the X-Treme Sprints Point Champion, as well as the Bud Park Season Champion. Chris also tied the All-Time Feature Win Record: 14 feature wins. He now shares the title with Johnny Wiersma.

Chris ties the All Time Feature Win Record, sharing the title with Johnny Wiersma. Starting in the back of the heat race, Chris just couldn't get by the cars in front of him, and remained there for the rest of the race. In the main, Chris started in first, and quickly dropped back to 3rd place, causing some tense moments in the Kromac pits while we waited to see if he could make it back into first place. On lap 5, the two lead cars were taken out of the race, leaving Chris in first which held on to this time, bringing his feature win count to 14.

Once more, almost a month without racing! Chris started towards the back of the heat race, and stayed there for the rest of the race. Congrats to Karalyn Miller on her first heat race win! Starting on the pole for the main, Chris closely held on to his lead, holding off Rocky for 13 out of 15 laps. In the last two laps, Dennis, who had managed to work his way from the back of the pack, passed Rocky, and then passed Chris with less than 1/2 a track to go. One of the most exciting races of the year put Chris in second place with only 2 more races to beat the all-time feature win record held by Johnny Wiersma.

Back behind the wheel after just over a month off, Chris was anxious for another feature win. He started off well, finishing first in the heat race, but couldn't quite do it in the main. Starting towards the back, Chris stayed there for the remainder of the race, finishing in 6th spot.

Our backup driver, Terry Hiller, had an awesome time Saturday night filling in for Chris. As he said after the main, this is why life is worth living! Terry did a great job. His first time in a sprint car after winning the Bud Park Season Champion last year landed him a solid 3rd place finish in the heat race followed by a hard fought 2nd place in the main. Terry bounced off the wall in corner 4 a few times, but got it under control, passing Kevin Clethero in the final laps of the race to take over second place. We could almost hear Terry laughing during that main. Thanks for coming out, Terry! It was great to see you in a sprint car again! Check out the photos section for some pictures of Terry.

While I was not at this race, I got a play by play from our favorite crew member, Colin. After finishing 3rd in the heat race, Chris blew away the rest of the pack in the main by finding the fast way around the track. Staying high in the corners instead of going low allowed Chris to go from a 3rd row outside position on the start to win another feature race.

After a long time with no racing (and an even longer time with me not updating the site, sorry!), we had a mediocre night of race at Bud Park. The track conditions quickly degraded leaving ruts in the track that made any passing impossible. Chris started in the back of the heat race, and stayed there finishing 7th out of 9 cars. Starting in the 4th row outside in the main, we were expecting a duplicate of the heat race but Chris surprised us, and managed to pass a few cars to finish in 4th spot.
June 11, 2005 - X-Treme Cup Invitational
The first annual X-Treme Cup was full of excitement. The night was filled with blown engines, motor problems, crashes, and even a trip to the hospital for Rocky Borys after a wild ride between corners three and four. Rocky, glad to hear everything's alright! Despite all that, it was an excellent night of racing. Unfortunately for the Kromac crew, engine troubles, followed by a bent front axle after Chris had nowhere to go except the front of Paul Rolo's spun car, took us out of the running. Sean Moran got ahead of the pack and managed stay there, becoming the first ever X-Treme Cup Champion. Way to go, Sean! Thanks to all the competitors, and sponsors. It was nice to see all those cars out there. Thanks for all the support from the fans and sponsors!

The Knoxville Qualifier was an exciting night of racing. During the heat race, we were still having problems with the engine. Chris started towards the back, and couldn't seem to pass anyone. For the main, the engine seemed a bit better. He started on the front row and ended up staying in front for the rest of the race. There was a tense moment on a restart with only a few laps left in the race. Rocky Borys was right behind Chris, but he managed to stay in front for his third feature win.

Finally, we got all the bugs out of the engine. Chris started in the 3rd row outside in the heat race and finished second, after the first place car was disqualified for hitting the inside corner cone. For the main, he started front row outside, and quickly got ahead, and stayed ahead of the pack. Make sure everyone makes it out for the X-Treme Cup on June 11th! Racing starts at 6:00PM.

The engine was still causing problems for the Kromac Racing team. Chris stopped during hot laps, and after some quick changes, made it out for the heat race. Still having problems, Chris came in before the race even started. The problem was actually 2 bad magnetos, but the third time's the charm! Starting the main in fourth spot, Chris quickly moved up to the pole position and maintained it for the rest of the race. Way to go, Chris! His first feature win for the 2005 season!
May 7, 2005 - Nite Thunder
The season started off pretty well for Kromac Racing. Chris finished 2nd in the first heat, 3rd in the second heat, and 3rd in the main. The engine isn't running right, but despite that Chris finished pretty well. Hopefully we can get everything straightened out for next week.
